OVERVIEW of Polyimide Ferrules Overview for GC & GC/MS

Graphite and Polyimide ferrules for GC and GC/MS instruments. We offer the largest variety and quantity of graphite, 100% Polyimide and Polyimide/Graphite composite ferrules.
TL-POLYIMIDE ™ FERRULES - THE NEXT GENERATION POLYIMIDE FERRULES
Available Composites:
  • TL-100 : unfilled or 100% TL-POLYIMIDE ™
  • TL-085 : 85% TL-POLYIMIDE ™ and 15% graphite
  • TL-060 : 60% TL-POLYIMIDE ™ and 40% graphite

    Superior Thermal Properties:
  • TL-100 ferrules have a continous operating temperature in excess of 350°C. Between 250°C and 325°C . TL-100 shows only minor sticking to the polyimide clad column and usually can be removed with only a minor tug and then easily reinserted.
  • TL-100 ferrules have a short term use to 450°C and perform well at 400°C with no deformation of the ferrule.
  • TL-085 & TL-060 do not stick to the cloumn and can handle temperatures well above 450°C.
    Superior Sealing Performance:
  • TL-POLYIMIDE™ ferrules are appreciably softer than other polyimide materials thus enabling the ferrule to easily form around an inconsistent column OD.
  • TL-POLYIMIDE™'s Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CTE) is substantially lower than other polyimide materials thus reducing the tendency to loosen in the fitting.

Unique processing makes TL-Polyimide™ BETTER - You can see the difference !!
TL-Polyimide™ ferrules are direct formed under high temperature and free sintering as opposed to other polyimide ferrules direct formed under room temperature. Direct forming under high temperature results in increasing density; the elimination of micro voids and porosity; a low CTE (high-stability) and non-traceable out-gassing.
TL-Polyimide™ uses a phenolic solvent that has a high boiling point for the syntheses of polyimide as opposed to the use of dipolar aprotic amide solvent as the reaction media resulting in a higher molecular weight than other polyimide materials produced with the conventional reaction media.
TL-Polyimide™ Graphite Composites utilize "Micro-Composition" by In-situ reaction when bleanding graphite with the polyimide material. Other polyimide materials utilize the conventional methods of wet or dry blending. The conventional methods result in graphite covering the surface of the polyimide particles, which interrupt effective contract of the polyimide particles to one another. Thus, molded parts show a low friction coefficient, but result in poor wear resistance and mechanical strength. The TL-Polyimide In-situ reaction method does not cause an interruption on the polyimide particles; generates excellent wear properties and high mechanical strength of the molded parts. The enhanced dispersion of the graphite can easily be detected from the shining and slick surface on the TL-Polyimide™ graphite composite ferrules as compared to the dull surfaces on other polyimide/graphite composite ferrules.
